As anticipated in previous months, Simon Kjaer will depart Milan at the end of his expiring contract, as the team has already started to get busy finding new defenders. His agent Mikkel Beck made it official to Bold (via Tuttomercatoweb).

“His deal will run out in the summer, and Simon will be on his way out. There’s no drama. The parties share and understand their mutual intentions. It’s just the natural farewell to the team he plays for. He has loved doing so for four years. It appears that the time has come.”

“Kjaer had told me in the past that he would have liked to star for Milan and eventually managed to achieve his dream in the best possible way. They’ll wind up being the side he has collected the most appearances with.”

“It’s a perfect situation for him. He’ll play in the Euro and then will be able to transfer where he desires. He’d like to choose freely the best place for him and his family. I don’t expect quick developments, unlike for Olivier Giroud.”

“When Kjaer joined Milan, they were a midtable team. He aspired to bring them back to the top of Italian football. He won the league and settled down. They made it to the Champions League semifinals last year. He’s hurt now but should be able to help them out down the stretch to prepare the Euro.”

Kjaer transferred to Milan back in January 2020 and has played 90 matches with them so far.
