Napoli are preparing to discuss a contract extension for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and are convinced Barcelona can’t afford the Georgian star this summer, reports Gazzetta.

Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis will soon meet Kvaratskhelia’s agent, Mamuka Jugeli, to discuss a contract extension for the Partenopei ace.

Gazzetta reported on Tuesday that Jugeli had arrived in Naples over the weekend to open talks with the Partenopei owner. Kvara is on a €1.5m-a-year deal and has requested a new €5m-a-year salary.

Napoli confident that Barcelona can’t afford Kvaratskhelia

Gazzetta believes that it’s unlikely ADL will offer as much, but both parties are willing to continue together. A fresh Gazzetta report claims Kvara’s agent could use Barcelona’s interest to persuade Napoli to match his demands, but at the same time, the Serie A club is convinced that the Catalans can’t afford the Georgian star.

ADL reportedly values Kvaratskhelia around €120m-€130m, a sum Barcelona can’t pay due to financial struggles.

Even if Napoli include a release clause in the region of €100m in Kvaratskhelia’s new contract, Barcelona would be unable to match it. The winger’s current deal at the Stadio Maradona expires in 2027 so Napoli are aware the player can’t force the club to sell him this summer.

Kvaratskhelia, 23, has ten goals and nine assists in 42 appearances across all competitions this season.
