Inter are reportedly tracking Matt O’Riley, who’s turning heads across Europe with his great performances at Celtic Glasgow. Serie A teams are no strangers to poaching players from the Scotting League. He has bagged 13 goals this campaign.

According to Corriere dello Sport, the Nerazzurri and Atletico Madrid pursued the midfielder in January, but his team rebuffed them. Brendan Rogers convinced him to stay put at least until June.

Inter could make another run at O’Riley in the summer, although they have already secured Piotr Zielinski at the position. They will part ways with two fringe options, Stefano Sensi and Davy Klaassen, at the conclusion of their expiring contracts.

The 23-year-old was raised in Fulham’s youth academy and moved to Celtic Glasgow in 2022 after a season at MK Dons. In addition to filling his boots, he has also dished 14 assists this season, 3 of which during his six Champions League appearances. He was born in London but has decided to represent Denmark. He has two caps with his national team.

Our Take on Inter and O’Riley

They were probably interested before they sealed the deal for Zielinski and won’t make further additions there without a departure. They’d technically be one man short compared to this year, but Klaassen and especially Sensi barely ever played. On the other hand, he’d be a very intriguing target for many smaller Serie A sides that could use a prolific box-to-box.
