Rams expected to sign former All-Pro cornerback to improve secondary

When healthy White has been one of the NFL's best cornerbacks, leading the league in interceptions during the 2019 season. He was a first-team All-Pro that year and a second-team All-Pro during the 2020 season. 

He has intercepted 18 passes in his career, which had previously been spent entirely with the Buffalo Bills.

The problem for White the past two years has been being able to stay on the field. Injuries have limited to just 10 games over the past two years, significantly limiting his impact. 

That recent injury history, as well as the fact he just turned 29 years old, does mean he will carry some risk going into the 2024 season. But it is such a small deal that it is worth it for the Rams to take.

The Rams were 20th in the NFL against the pass a year ago and did not have any impact players at cornerback. Despite that, they still managed to win 10 games and make the playoffs. 

Upgrading the secondary was a clear emphasis for the front office entering the offseason and they have definitely done that. Along with signing White they also signed former Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Darious Williams to a multi-year deal and former Washington Commanders safety Kamren Curl to a two-year deal.  

Losing future Hall of Fame defensive lineman Aaron Donald to retirement will leave a big hole on the defense, but the Rams have done a lot of work to improve their pass-rushers and secondary over the past two years. 

They also have a first-round pick this year for the first time since the 2016 NFL Draft. That will enable them to add even more to their defense.
