Jets’ Dalvin Cook Reveals Blunt Thoughts On Yet Another Loss
Kevin R. Wexler / USA TODAY NETWORK

The 2023 season has been a major disappointment for the New York Jets. They entered the season with very high expectations after acquiring Aaron Rodgers in a trade from the Green Bay Packers, expecting him to quarterback the offense back to relevancy.

Unfortunately, that plan lasted all of four plays before Rodgers suffered an Achilles injury that will very likely keep him sidelined for the duration of the season. A number of moves were made to appease Rodgers this offseason that have since backfired because of his injury.

One of those additions was running back Dalvin Cook. There was some excitement about his addition as many people thought he and Breece Hall could combine to be the best running back tandem in the NFL. Alas, that has not been the case.

For a multitude of reasons, they have failed to have the impact they are capable of. The offensive line woes are the biggest, as they are using backups and practice squad players at multiple spots along the line.

Even before the injuries set in, Cook had been a disappointment for the Jets this season. He got off to a slow start because of offseason shoulder surgery and never seemed to truly find his footing in New York.

Despite those struggles, he is still coming to work every day and being a consummate professional despite the circumstances. That isn’t something that will be changing, as Cook revealed some blunt thoughts after another embarrassing loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday afternoon.

“I think we have to figure something out,” Cook exclaimed. “Me personally, I’m just going to go back and work my a-- off come Monday.”

The Jets are an absolute mess right now, but veterans such as Cook are still trying to handle business and set the right example for young players on the team. Despite their playoff hopes being all but dashed with the loss to the Falcons, it will be business as usual for him as he will do his part to help the team win games.
