Can Caleb Williams Break Multiple Chicago Bears Records in Rookie Season?

The Chicago Bears have never had a quarterback throw for over 4,000 yards or 30 touchdowns in a single season. Erik Kramer and Jay Cutler came close but the dropoff after them is big. Caleb Williams accomplished both of these feats during his Heisman Trophy-winning 2022 season and almost did it again last year.

If the Bears take Williams No. 1 overall in the 2024 NFL Draft, does he become the first Chicago quarterback to accomplish this task and do it in his rookie season?

Caleb Williams Breaking Bears' Records

Danny Parkins of 670 The Score was recently on 'This Is Football' with host Kevin Clark. Parkins believes Caleb Williams can break those Chicago Bears records during his rookie season and he may not be far off.

Parkins and Clark mentioned quarterbacks who accomplished these single-season records recently like Ryan Tannehill, Trevor Lawrence, Derek Carr, and Kirk Cousins. Parkins said, "These are low bars, man, is the point… It's the type of thing where Caleb Williams has maybe around a 50-50 shot to set those records his rookie year."

Parkins could be right. Chicago Bears' GM Ryan Poles has already added to the offense and the draft is still a week away. The offensive line is better and the Bears will likely add depth to it from the draft as well.

Caleb Williams is walking into one of the best situations in NFL history. With pieces plucked specifically for him, Williams has the opportunity to become the best quarterback the Bears have ever had. Could it be done in his rookie year? Possibly, but winning games is more important and the stats are just a bonus.
